Tal means a water body like a pond or water tank and Katora means bowl. The garden got its name because of its bowl shaped structure. The water bodies in the garden are beautiful and are set up strategically at a distance with each other. The lawns are green, huge, well-maintained and have a look of a green carpet. History/Facts

Talkatora Garden is not only a beautiful place, but also a place with great historical significance. During 1738, it was at this place that the Maratha rulers were defeated by the mighty Mughal army.

The swimming pools of Talkatora Gardens are quite famous. The name of the garden can literally be translated as “Water Cup”. The water bodies were so significant in the earlier days that the garden was named after the same. The best time to visit this garden is during the spring season. It is during this time that the flowers are at their best appearance. The huge varieties of rare and colorful plants can be best enjoyed during this time.
