Delhi has a strong connection to Punjab in terms of history and culture even today because during the British reign, Delhi was included in the Punjab province. The state of Haryana surrounds the northern, southern and western corners of Delhi while Uttar Pradesh covers the eastern corner.  This city, located in the northern part of India, has a geographical indication of 28.61 degrees towards the north and 77.23 degrees towards the east. The Yamuna River and the famous Delhi Ridge are the dominating geographical landmarks of Delhi. This river, considered to be very sacred by the Hindus, caters to the agricultural needs of the neighbouring states of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh; however, there have been lots of instances of flooding in this area. This river proves to be the key differentiator between Ghaziabad and East Delhi. The Delhi Ridge, that stands tall at about 1043 feet above sea level, is a great landmark in Delhi. It starts from the Aravalli mountain range and proves to be a phenomenal shield for Delhi at its north western, north eastern and western corners.

The history of Delhi dates back to the days when the mythological epic, Mahabharata, happened. The town that was once referred to as Indraprastha, the residing place of the Pandava kings, is the modern day Delhi that we know of. Over the years, Delhi grew bigger as cities like Shahjahanabad, Quila Rai Pithora, Jahanpanah, Lal Kot, Siri, Dinpanah, Ferozabad and Tughlakabad were included in its fold. This was also a place that had witnessed the rise and fall of many dynasties like the Mughals, Marathas, and Tughlaqs, Khiljis and others, thereby leading to an ever-active and ever-vibrant political world in the city.

The city of Delhi that we see today is a perfect blend of the old-world charm of ancient era with the new-age modern structures. While on one side, the place is oozing with rich remnants of the royal dynasties that ruled the place, on the other side, the place is a hub for modern day fashion industry. Today, the place stands tall and proud as a technologically brilliant city with state-of-the-art infrastructure at par with global standards.

Delhi is known for some of the architecturally brilliant buildings like Rashtrapati Bhavan. The building with its excellent British architecture is seemingly one of the most beautiful buildings in the country. The well-planned Mughal Gardens and the huge building are sheer magical pieces from Edward Lutyens, the world-renowned architect from Britain. The Jawaharlal Nehru University is an iconic educational institution in Delhi. Tourism is on a high roll all through the year, as international and domestic tourists combine economical packages of other states as well when they visit Delhi.

Being the national capital, Delhi is replete with the headquarters of many business giants. The sprawling buildings set up on huge landscapes and the high quality of technology used here is a sheer representation of the stupendous growth of the city. The transport system in Delhi is above par with an only hitch being the frequent traffic jams the city experiences. With all modern day facilities, it is no wonder that Delhi is a powerhouse of politics, history, education, culture and tradition.
