Imperial Hotel

Situated at Janpath near Connaught Place in the national capital, history of the Imperial goes back to 1931 when it was constructed. Lord Willington inaugurated the hotel in 1936. It was considered the first luxurious hotel of New Delhi with a design that is a mix of Victorian and colonial architecture. It also has been inspired by the Art Deco style that was evolved by the architect named D.J. Blomfield. He also worked with Edwin Lutyens.

While the building was initially constructed by S.B.S. Ranjit Singh, it was later restored by Harvinder Sekhon. This reconstruction took almost 5 years and it lasted from 1996 to 2001. During the operational tenure of Sekhon, the place was visited by Queen of the Netherlands and many Hollywood celebrities as well as business tycoons. The hotel is also home to some of Delhi’s most popular restaurants and bars. ‘Spice Route’, ‘Patiala Peg Bar’, ‘1911 Restaurant and Bar’, ‘Daniells Tavern’ and ‘San Gimignano’ are always packed for their delightful hospitality and great food and beverages. The hotel has a total of three floors, with 233 rooms and 44 suites.
