An esteemed name in the world of art, Gallery Espace was established in New Delhi by Renu Modi in the year 1989. The gallery showcases the work of renowned as well as upcoming contemporary artists throughout the year.

History

Gallery Espace in New Delhi was inaugurated with an exhibition of autobiographical works of MF Husain who is modern India's most eminent artist and also one of the founder members of the Progressive Artists Group. It was established by Renu Modi in the year 1980.

Renu Modi's venture into the world of art started when M.F. Husain designed her home in 1986. Being one of its kinds this sculptural-installation stands as a mark of artistic elegance. Being married into a prominent family of India she conceptualised and started her career in one limited board-room space. The flair for showmanship and well developed insight drove her to transform the Gallery into what it is today. The credit of the three tiered Gallery which is aptly designed for interaction, experimentation and indulging in the understanding of art goes to the untiring efforts of Renu Modi.

Soon after its inception, the Gallery become synonymous to the name of great representing artists of 1980’s like Manjit Bawa, Jagdish Swaminathan, Krishen Khanna, Vishwanadhan and Bhupen Khakhar.

This gallery has upheld the names of mainly Indian artists through many generations traversing through borders and boundaries continuously. This art gallery show cases the immortal work of the great artists through varied mediums. The endeavour of Espace has always been to represent artists who work towards the comprehension of art which deal with burning issues which reflect the modern society's concerns documenting today's veracity.

During the early and the mid 1990’s the effort was concentrated on finding hidden talents, foreseeing and predicting new trends and aptly providing a strong platform and unveiling many of the unidentified and unknown  artists. Some of the talents brought in front of the eyes of the Aesthetes by Espace who have earned laurels for themselves as most creative artists are Subodh Gupta and Ashim Purkayasta.

Gallery Espace can be reached by using personal vehicles or one can use public transport services such as DTC buses, Delhi metro, autos and taxis. The closest metro station to reach this place is Kalkaji Mandir Metro station.
