Juvenile Issues




Currently operating Nanakpura, which lies in South Moti Bagh, the Special Police Unit for children and women of New Delhi is also considered as a Nodal agency which considers juvenile issues falling under the overall management of the Police Joint Commissioner according to the Juvenile Justice Act 2000. Some of the duties of this unit include – collecting information on the children in need of care as well protection, observing complaints and cases which happen in districts related to children on regular occasions, imparting awareness at the police station level taking help of Law experts and NGOs, liaising as well as coordinating with the stakeholders. It also looks after cases from the Juvenile in conflict with Law that arise from different districts and units of the Delhi Police, examining the work of specially set up police units, juvenile welfare officers set up in numerous units and districts along with maintaining the website of www.dpjju.com which focuses on juveniles. It also organizes different training programmes based on Juvenile Justice System for the Delhi Police Officers and Juvenile Welfare Officers.
