Department Of Women And Child Development

The cabinet decision taken on 20th August 2007 is listed for setting up of Department of Women and Child Development that works under Government of NCT in Delhi. The main objective for setting up of this department is to motivate the overall advancement of both the women and child and make sure that their day to day needs be fulfilled majorly for those who belong to society living below the poverty line.

The work of the department is to design the plan, make the policies that could prove beneficial for both the government organization and the non-governmental organization who works towards guiding these women and children who are in need of support.

The other step taken by this department is by helping the voluntary organizations who work for the weaker section of the society by making these organizations aware about the ways they can adopt in their functioning. The major activities performed by these organizations are listed below:

• Programmes for Women Welfare and development
• Programmes for Child welfare and Development
• Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS)
