Road Maintenance

The following agencies are prescribed to maintain the quality and the conditions of the roads in the National Capital Region of Delhi. :

• Municipal Corporation of Delhi
• New Delhi Municipal Committee
• Public Works Department, GNCT of Delhi
• Delhi Development Authority
• Delhi Cantonment Board
• National Highways Authority of India

Any of these authorities if intend to do any work of construction or maintenance and repairs on any of the roads and/or streets within the National Capital Territory of Delhi are supposed to get hold of a written permission through the office of the Dpt. Police Commissioner, Traffic. All these works can only be carried out at the time specified from the office. In the process of repair, maintenance or any such updation, the agencies must consider the following points always.

• It must be ensured that the traffic is able to move freely and safely at all times.
• Fluorescent Tapes must be used to mark all the signs of traffic including crosses, diversions and bumpers etc which are visible even at night.
• Depending upon the particular site and the needs, all precautions must be taken.
• There should be no debris or Malba on the side of the road during the process.
• The normal traffic flow should continue unabated at the site as far as possible.
• The completion of the work should meet the deadline.
• There should be the provision of an alternate route and it must be ensured that the general people are not in trouble.
