The first theatre for movies in New Delhi was the Regal Cinema, set up in the region of Connaught Circus as it was in the centre of the town. The theatre was first opened for screening in 1932 with designs being provided by Walter Sykes George, who was a renowned architect. The cinema complex presently has seats for about 695 movie goers and the hall is completely centralised with air conditioning. Inside the theatre, the features to be noted are wide screen running wall to wall, projectors of the latest technology, sound system of Dolby digital technology and the seats are push back type with comfortable cushioning in the seats. Booking tickets in Regal Cinema is through payment of cash and the shows run at times starting from 12.30 pm in the afternoon and has four shows in total, at three-hourly interval and the last show is at 9.30 pm.
