In 18th century, Mirza Ghalib had created history with the intensity of his poems and various literary works. These are still being recited and remembered by millions of his followers in India, as well as in other countries. All of his life’s tribulations and hardships are the reason for his intense poems and ghazals, which still ring fresh in the minds of his ardent supporters. There are so many literary works of Ghalib, that it is almost impossible to choose a particular work and commemorate it in the present day scenario. Over the years, some of the plays of Ghalib have become hit theatrical productions and have run for years together. Most of these are played and enacted in the Aiwan-e-Ghalib Auditorium, thereby giving an apt surrounding for enacting the life and his plays. Irrespective of the time and topic of the writings of Ghalib, these are aptly captured in various plays and to honour this maestro in ghazals and urdu story-telling, the Ghalib Auditorium was opened. It is more properly known as the Aiwan-e-Ghalib Auditorium and is the favourite venue for theatre productions by many talents artists and directors.

Location

Aiwan-e-Ghalib Auditorium is situated in the national capital of Delhi, in the famous route of Mata Sundari Lane, along Kotla Road in Maulana Azad Road, which is situated in Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in New Delhi. It is the auditorium that is the venue for plenty of plays, concerts, musical shows, meetings and discussions on various poetries and books. National seminars and plays are conducted by different organisations by leasing or renting the place. But, noteworthy is the large numbers of plays and dance dramas, threaded around the life history of Ghalib himself. Many famous writers and producers have got directors of repute to work on the life of Ghalib, depicting different stages of his life and his creative experiences.

Every year, the anniversary of Mirza Ghalib is celebrated in the Aiwan-e-Ghalib Auditorium, where many playwrites, dramatists and actors congregate to honour the work of this great poet of his times. Ghalib Auditorium has graced the literary and creative circle of Delhi since a long time and is supposedly a well known auditorium of the city.
