Cinemas Halls

New Delhi, being the capital city of India is self sufficient in almost all aspects including entertainment, which is offered here in abundance. One of the most popular forms of entertainment in New Delhi is cinema. Some of the finest multiplexes and cinema halls can be found here. Technology imported from Australia was used to open one of the earliest multiplexes in India at New Delhi. The services offered in the cinema halls in New Delhi are beyond comparison, making them the most important source of entertainment for people.  Single screen cinema halls are very common in New Delhi and can be found at very corner of the city. A lot of people visit these cinema halls especially on weekends with family and youngsters come here with friends to have a good time. These cinema halls are in no way less than those in other parts of the world. Some services that are offered to the customers are - car parking, online ticketing facility, comfortable reclining seats and eateries offering mouth watering food. To name a few, some popular cinema halls in the capital city are - PVR Saket, Satyam, Priya and PVR in CP.

Single-Screen Cinema Halls

Single-screen cinema halls were popular places for watching movies and were once important landmarks in the city with their huge hoardings. However, the number of single screen cinema halls has reduced due to rise in popularity of multiplexes in New Delhi. The first Cinema hall constructed in CP has lost its charm and is not even well maintained now. It is run down and screens semi-porn for the local working class people. Other cinema halls including Westend cinemas, either been shut down or converted to commercial complexes. An example is “Kumar Cinema Chandni Chowk” which was reopened as Abhishek Cineplex under new management.

Multiplexes

Multiplexes came into existence in New Delhi with the opening of the first modern multiplex by PVR Cinemas in the year 1997. For this, technology was especially imported from Australia. PVR in Saket broke many national awards in exhibition of cinema and thus revolutionized the movie theatre industry in the country. As on now, there are more than 20 multiplexes in the city and more are being constructed, some being stand alone while others are located inside malls.

Most of the multiplexes are under chains to which they belong. Some of the popular multiplex chains are - Satyam Cineplex’s, Wave Cinemas, Fun Cinemas and PVR Cinemas. They offer online ticket booking and also deliver tickets at home. Apart from this, Special loyalty benefits and incentives are also given.
