Facilities At Safdarjung Airport

Majority of Indian airports are under the management of Airports Authority of India through its headquarters, which is under the Civil Aviation Ministry, located at the airport in Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan. The office for liaison of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi is present in the airport’s administrative section.

Directly opposite to that of the airport, the head office of Directorate General of Civil Aviation is located.

Parking

Due to traffic resulting from the visitors to Commonwealth Games, NMDC took up the facility of park-and-ride at Safdarjung Airport in Delhi, which could accommodate about 600 buses and 3000 cars.

This parking facility was supposedly a major boost to the traffic control and planning the transportation of the visitors and athletes, while this mega event for sports was held, as the facility was quite close to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which was the centre of most of the events in the Games.
