Kashmere Gate Metro Station

It was on Christmas Day in 2002 that Kashmere Gate Metro station was named. This station that is found on the Red and Yellow lines is the highest on the Red Line and lowest on the Yellow Line. On the red line, this is the place where passengers can change to other lines.

Kashmere Gate Metro Station, which is presently the oldest and biggest metro station in Delhi, looks like a swanky shopping mall and it caters to the transport needs of the ancient Kashmiri Gate zone of Delhi. Set on five huge floors, this station contains all facilities like toilets, restaurants, paying phones and food courts. The HUDA City Centre Metro station that is currently under progress will overtake Kashmere Gate metro station.

The 3rd Phase of Delhi Metro Plan plans to bring the Violet line too in this area, where it will intersect with the Red and Yellow lines at the Kashmere Gate Metro station, thereby reducing the overloaded Yellow line that runs between Central Secretariat and Kashmere Gate.
