Tickets

Delhi Metro has introduced three choices of tickets for customer’s convenience. Their RFID tokens are meant to be used only on the same day of purchase and the cost of these tokens depends on the travelling distance and generally ranges between Rs.12 and Rs.46. There is a fare chart to calculate the fare depending on the distance between origin and destination point. In 2011, a facility of common ticket was introduced for travelers on both Metro and Corporation buses in Delhi. Frequent travelers can make use of this travel cards as it is valid for longer period.

Ticket Options

Travel Card

• It is highly beneficial for frequent travelers. Minimum recharge is Rs.100 for a valued card and maximum recharge will be of Rs.1000. One has to pay Rs.50 as security deposit at the time of purchase which is refundable at the time of card deposit. They can also add minimum amount of Rs.50 along with this. Further recharge can be done for minimum amount of Rs.100.
• Refund process of electronically readable smart cards: A processing charge of Rs. 5 will be collected at the time of refund. Thus, (security deposit + electronic balance)-Rs.5 will be refunded. If there is any bonus amount, it is not for refund. This plan is applicable for both the physically perfect electronic smart cards and physically damaged cards.
• One time refundable deposit of Rs.50 will be collected.
• The validity of the card is one year either from the date of purchase or from the date of last recharge, whichever comes first.
• If one needs to renew his card, then Rs.5 has to be deposited.
• One can check the amount balance on their card by making use of ticket reading machines available at every Metro Station.

Tourist Card

• Tourist Card can be preferred to travel unlimited time for short distance. There are 2 variants of tourist card: 1 day card and 3 day card.
• The card value of 1 day card is Rs.100
• The card value of 3 day card is Rs.250
• An amount of Rs.50 will be collected at the time of card purchase which is refundable when the card is returned.

Token

• There is a single token available for a single journey.
• The value of this depends on the distance travelled and it is valid only for a single day.
• The minimum fare of this token is Rs.8 and Maximum amount is Rs.30
