Auto Rickshaws
Auto–rickshaws are used extensively by the people of Delhi to reach their respective destinations, as it is less costly when compared to call taxis, cabs and metro trains. They operate on three wheels and are the electronic version of the cycle-rickshaw. Most of the people prefer autos to buses, because unlike the latter, autos drop off people right at the entrance of their preferred destination. The autos in Delhi on CNG and therefore do not endanger the environment in any way. Auto rickshaws should be driven only by the people who possess valid license and all the necessary permits, as required by the Government. As per recent data, there are over 60,000 auto rickshaws in Delhi for the benefit and service of the local inhabitants.
Fares
Auto-Rickshaw | for first 2 kilometres, the meter is set to Rs 25 and after that for every additional kilometre, Rs. 8 is charged from per Kilometre |
Night Charges | 25% of the fare is charged after 11 pm till 5 am in the morning |
Waiting Charges | An hour’s waiting charge is Rs 30 with a minimum 15 minutes of stay |
Luggage | Extra luggage is charged Rs. 7.50 (shopping bag or a small suitcase is not considered) |
