Lost Item Claiming Process

In order to claim the lost items, the owner should be in possession of certain documents which are listed below:

  • Proof indicating Journey carried out/Boarding card copy.
  • Identity proof issued by the Government Department/ Passport copy.
  • Lost items details which are to be claimed.

Or

In case the owner of the lost item is authorising someone else on his behalf to claim the items, he is required to produce the documents listed below:

  • The owner or the claimer should be in possession of a Letter of authorization in order to collect the item on behalf of the owner. It is required to write in the details of item being claimed by the owner.
  • Copy of Boarding Pass.
  • Photo Identity Proof of the owner issued by the Government (Preferably Passport/PAN Card /Driving License).
  • Photo Identity Proof of the person who has been authorised by the owner for collection of item.

The authority to collect the item may be given to an individual, Airlines or Courier Company.

NOTE: - THE MAXIMUM PERIOD PERMITTED FOR COLLECTION OF LOST ITEM IS NINETY (90) DAYS FROM THE DATE OF DEPOSITING. ITEMS NOT CLAIMED UPTO 90 DAYS ARE HANDED OVER TO CUSTOMS (011-25652089) AS PER GOVERNMENT DIRECTIVE. ITEM MUST BE COLLECTED WITHIN 90 (NINETY) DAYS FROM THE DATE OF DEPOSIT. THE LOST AND FOUND SECTION DOES NOT ENTERTAIN ANY CLAIM AFTER THE EXPIRY OF THIS PERIOD.

The section operating the lost and found articles on IGI airport remains open between 0930 hrs to 1800 hrs from Monday to Friday.  On Saturdays, it operates between 0930 hrs to 1330 hrs and remains closed on all important Holidays, Sundays and Second Saturdays.
