Blue Line




Blue Line of Delhi Metro Rail System covers 44 stations between Dwarka Sector 21 and Noida City Centre running along the distance of 50.56 km together with a branch route between Vaishali and Yamuna Bank covering a distance of 6.25 km and 8 stations.

History

This longest route of Delhi Metro network covers the distance between Dwarka and Barakhamba Road Section. This was inaugurated by the Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh on 31st December 2005 and started its operation on the same day.

Stations

The tallest station of the Metro is Kakarduma station which has a platform 19 meters high. This is followed by Rajouri Garden Station with 17 meters height.

Extensions

  • Approved Extensions

Vaishali Extension

On 14th July 2011, a small distance of 2.57 km of extension was build linking Anand Vihar Station from Blue Line category with Vaishali Metro Station at Ghaziabad. This was known to be initiated on 2011, March.

Najafgarh Extension

A branch route between Dwarka and Najafgarh has been planned and approved under Phase III. There will be three new stations on this line.

  • Planned Extensions

There are many plans to extend Line 3. As this line has touched Noida City, U.P government also showed keen interest in extending this facility to further parts of the state. There is a plan to stretch the line till Noida Sector 62 in the eastern direction and Najafgarh in the western side by the year 2015 to 2016. They also showed equal interest to establishing metro route to newly proposed Jewar airport close to Greater Noida. The other end of this Line which runs between Vaishali Metro Station and Ghaziabad is also under proposal to stretch further linking additional areas in and around Ghaziabad.
