Extensions
-
Approved Extension: North Bound
The phase III of Delhi Metro which is planned on the Violet line is expected to be completed by the financial year 2015-16. As part of the project, the metro lines are planned to be extended till Red Fort with a stop at ITO. The total extension project length is 9.36 km which will commence from Central Secretariat station with a link point to Blue line at Mandi House station. The proponents of the project feel that this venture would minimize the traffic at Rajiv Chowk interchange. This project will also benefit the violet line travellers in reducing the number of transfers to get into Blue Line.
The following stations are planned along the extension project (northbound):
1) Central Secretariat
2) ITO
3) Mandi House (interchange to Blue Line)
4) Delhi Gate
5) Janpath
6) Jama Masjid
7) Kashmere Gate
8) Red Fort

This extension is expected to benefit the commuters of sub-city colonies of Faridabad. This is the second line after Yellow line to cross the Delhi-Haryana border. This complete line is laid on the fully elevated platform covering a distance of 14 km with a total of 9 stations as mentioned below (southbound):
1) Sarai
2) YMCA chowk
