Delhi is one of the biggest metropolitan cities in the country and it is the national capital as well. The expressways and highways from Delhi are mostly connected with the neighbouring states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The Expressway between Delhi and Gurgaon connects the city to Haryana. The National Highways numbered 8, 2, 1 and 10 connect Delhi to the important cities of Gurgaon, Faridabad, Panipat and Rohtak respectively. The Flyway of DND and the National Highway 24 establishes direct connectivity between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. While the former connects Delhi with Noida, the latter ensures that Delhi and Ghaziabad are directly connected.

Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway on National Highway 8

This National Highway of 8 connects Delhi with Gurgaon quite easily. This expressway that stretches for about 28km has lots of access controls and toll booths all along its route. The highways also establish connectivity between Delhi and Mumbai, whereas the expressway goes on quite long until the outskirts of Gurgaon. This is an important part of the Golden Quadrilateral Project, a highly-reputed and illustrious project of the National Highway Development Project. This is the project that is aimed at strengthening the road infrastructure in the four main cities of Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. There are many highways having 4 or 6 lanes that ensure great connectivity among these 4 states.

Delhi Noida Direct Flyway

Noida is one of the most rapidly growing cities in the country today. There are many industries that are coming up in this area which is why the Direct Flyway that establishes direct connectivity between Delhi and Noida. This flyway is commonly known as DND (Delhi Noida Direct) by the locals. This flyway contains 8 lanes. This flyway was set up and is being managed by the Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited and the modus operandi that they follow is BOOT (Build, Own, Operate and Transfer). IL &FS (Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services) offers financial support for this company. This company was also responsible for the 552.5m long bridge across River Yamuna and Ashram Chowk’s Flyover.

National Highway 1

This is the highway that is the main reason for the connectivity between Delhi and Punjab’s Attari town, in the border of India and Pakistan. Like most of the other highways, this too comes under the control and jurisdiction of National Highway Authority of India. Being one of the most ancient highways and the one with the longest lane in the country, the National Highway 1 had Lahore (in Pakistan) as its origin point in the earlier days.

National Highway 2

There are as many as 5 states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand that are connected with Delhi through this National Highway 2. The common name for this highway is Delhi-Kolkata Road. On the National Highways 91 and 1, this road meets the geographically important Grand Trunk Road. This highway covers over 1465kms between Delhi and Kolkata and comes under the management of the National Highway Network of India.

National Highway 8

The National Highway 2 that runs for almost 1465km between Delhi and Kolkata has been identified by the National Highways Development Project to be a part of Golden Quadrilateral Project – one of the most significant highway projects of India. On National Highway 2, a length of 253km operating on the Delhi and Agra sector is a part of the North-South Corridor, as per a statement from the National Highways Authority of India. On the same highway, a length of around 35km on the Barah Kanpur sector is a part of the East-West Corridor.

National Highway 10

Found in North India, the National Highway 10 has been constructed to connect Delhi with Punjab’s Fazilka town, in close vicinity to the border area of India and Pakistan.

National Highway 24

National Highway 24 runs for a length of 438km and operates between Delhi and the capital of Uttar Pradesh state, Lucknow.
