Bus transport is quite cheap in Delhi because of the bus passes that are available at nominal rates. In spite of Delhi playing host to many different kinds of transport, buses are always in demand by the residents of Delhi. The company behind the operation of these buses is Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). DTC manages different buses on the Inner Ring and Outer Ring Routes. One of the buses in Delhi runs with the help of CNG.

Maharana Pratap Inter State Bus Terminus or the Kashmere Gate Inter State Bus terminus is the largest and the most ancient terminus in the country. It was officially launched during 1976 and since then, has been providing excellent connectivity not only within Delhi but also with other major states nearby. Operated by Delhi Transport Corporation, this network connects Delhi with sates like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.

Anand Vihar Railway Terminal

Anand Vihar Railway Terminal (ANVT) comes under the control of Northern Railways department of Indian Railways, specifically under the Delhi division.  This is one of the largest terminals in the entire department of Northern Railways and the biggest as far as Anand Vihar area is concerned. This terminal covers an area up to 42 hectares and has been operating trains to the complete the eastern side of Delhi ever since the second phase of Delhi Metro Rail Plan was launched.

Anand Vihar Metro Station

The Anand Vihar Metro Station is situated on an elevated platform and is used by thousands of passengers every day because it is quite easy to reach Anand Vihar railway terminal and Anand Vihar Inter State Bus terminus from here. One can locate Anand Vihar metro station on the Blue Line of Delhi Metro.

Phase 3 Inclusion

Under the 3rd phase of Delhi Metro Plan, Anand Vihar Metro station will mainly be used as an inter-change station on the Ring Road Line. It is from here that connections to areas like Yamuna Vihar and Mukundpur (areas that do not have metro connectivity as of now) are proposed to be established.

Connection with ISBT

The metro station at Anand Vihar is situated in a strategic location in such a way that all the major areas of Delhi are well connected through trains. Its proximity to Inter State bus terminus has also made it one of the most crowded stations in Delhi as people get down here to catch their inter-state buses for long distance journeys.
