Khari Baoli is a place located in Old Delhi.

History

Khari Baoli was laid by Khwaja Abdullah Laazar Qureshi during the reign of Sher Shah Suri’s son. The construction saw completion in the year 1551. The name of this baoli was kept Khari Baoli as it was a saline water well which was used to bathe animals and other cattle. The market was build around the Fatehpuri Masjid during the year 1650.

Khari Baoli is a very old location that is situated between the hustle bustles of Old Delhi. This location is quite congested with a lot of people residing in close by from years and years together. This place is very famous for the wholesale grocery markets and the very famous spice markets. Nuts, herbs, tea and rice are some of the famous things that people come to buy from distant locations. The other famous market is the Gadodia market that was built in the year 1920 by the rich merchants. Herbs are also extensively sold at this market.
