Neighbouring villages like Masoodpur, Munirka, Kishangarh and Mahipalpur soon became a part of the project. Though the consent was given in the 60's, it took two decades for the construction work to actually start. Delhi Development Authority (DDA) started with the colony project in the late 1980’s. The colony was segregated into 5 different segments namely A, B, C, D and E, where every individual segment was further divided into various sections namely 1, 2, 3,4,5,6 and 7 for administration purposes.

While the division that falls under the sector A was named in alphabetical order as A, B and C, the rest of the divisions in Vasant Kunj were named after numeric values. Barely 4 kms away from Qutub Minar and Mehrauli, the Division A is the first sector that was built in Vasant Kunj. The section 2 of division E is approximately 6.5 kms from Indira Gandhi International airport. Munirka lies at a distance of about 5 kilometres away from sector B pocket 1, which is right in the centre of Vasant Kunj. Moreover, Vasant Kunj continues to hold the highest value for farm lands in Delhi, while Rajokri holds the second position. The famous roads of Vasant Kunj are in terms of popularity: the Green Avenue road wins the race. However, the Mall road, Ram Mandir road and Park lane also share the same fortune.
