Karol Bagh




Karol Bagh is also known or spelled as Qarol Bagh and is an eclectic mix of residential areas and commercial complexes. This location is highly populated and is also one of the most known places of the capital. In the early 1920s, the residents of Madhoganj, Jaisingh Pura and Raja ka Bazaar were removed and evacuated to build the very famous Connaught Place. The residents then made their establishments in Karol Bagh which was earlier a very rocky area with many rocks and trees. Many refugees and Muslim families reside in this location. Karol Bagh has been in news due to many terrorist attacks in the national. Many bomb blasts and riots have rocked Karol Bagh market in the past. The historic college inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi named Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College lies in this location.

This is one of the busy shopping streets with many western businesses making their way in this old location. Karol Bagh with the influx of many new age industries and the eateries, it still has an old school feel to it.

How to Reach

Karol Bagh is at a distance of 20-22 kms from the Indira Gandhi Airport. Also, it has a metro station named as the Karol Bagh station that lies on the Blue line. One easily go till Rajiv Chowk and back by boarding the metro, thereby avoiding the Delhi traffic. It is easy for anyone to get an auto rickshaw and cycle rickshaw for shorter distances. This place is known to all people and can be reached with the road routes mentioned on the city roads.
