The various ways of segregating the NGOs is majorly done on the orientation of operational levels. The different types of NGOs have been explained below:-

  • Participatory Orientation NGOs: These are the self-supporting project agencies that work with support of local people to support the local people. The type of services rendered by these groups is majorly in form of cash, land, labour, tools, materials etc. The development project of the classical community starts with the definition of the requirement and it further moves to designing and implementation of different levels. The functioning of such organization is majorly for the small project development.
  • Charitable Orientation: works on the strategy of top to down paternalistic basis with very less involvement of the beneficiaries. The main motive of such kind of NGOs is based on the type of the support and requirement of the needy poor. The functioning of these types of agencies involve dispensing food, medicine, clothes to poor, making housing, school and transportation facilities to required people. These agencies also work very effectively during the time of crisis whether it is man created or natural. They generally receive financial aid from the government and also gather aid from personal donations.
  • Service Orientation: are the groups that involve the NGOs that render health care facilities, family planning or the related educational support that involves the planning and designing of the services of action of plan and send the required volunteers who are part of the NGO. Such type of agencies doesn’t need much of financial support rather they need more support in form of volunteers who could render their services.
  • Empowering Orientation: have their functioning towards the support of the poor and needy people, making them aware about the political, social and economic functioning that could affect people’s life and to make them aware about their rights through educating them on these issues.
