NGO Types By Level Of Operation

The main aim of operational NGO is to plan and execute the projects related to development. The operations of the operational NGOs can be spread to national, international or the community levels.

Community-Based Organizations (CBOs)

The community based services of NGO forms essential part of human services rendered to governments delivery activities.

The purpose of having charitable based activities is based on pattern of top to down paternalistic works with very little involvement of the “beneficiaries”. The other activities performed by such an NGO are aimed towards benefitting the requirements of the poor section of the society.

The existences of such groups are because of the formation of initiative actions of the people. The involvement of sports clubs, women groups and other nearby societies, religious and educational societies is also reason of its successful operations. There are numerous such organizations that function with support of NGOs either national or international NGOs while it also involves few other independent groups. The functioning of few of these groups is aimed towards increasing the awareness of the poor people of urban areas or making them aware about their rights so that they can work on acquiring the required support from those are willing to render such a support.

Citywide Organizations

The Rotary club or Lion’s club, chambers of commerce and industry, coalitions of business, educational institutes and other associated groups can be ranked under Citywide organizations. The main motive of these groups is aimed in rendering support to poor while few of other works towards rendering specific support to poor people of society.

National NGOs

Red Cross, YMCAs, YWCAs etc. are the groups that work under National NGOs. These can at times locate at state or city level that supports local NGOs.

International NGOs

International NGOs work with name of agencies like Ducere Foundation and Save the Children organizations, OXFAM, CARE, Ford Foundation and Rockefeller Foundation.
