Julu 07, 2015 | R. Tondon

While the long-due rain showers on Monday in Delhi brought relief to the people residing from humidity and scorching heat, there were few reports of the trees falling along with perennial waterlogging reports besides the traffic bottlenecks in Delhi. The areas around Safdarjung, Palam and Ayanagar received heavy rainfall between 6 to 14 mm. however, some places located around Narela, Ridge and Delhi University showed no showers.

As per the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s monsoon report, complaints of collapsing trees were also received from east Delhi in Kalyanpuri near Vasant Vihar, Green Park Extension and Neb Sarai. The waterlogging reports arrived from Rohini and Madhu Vihar. Water accumulation was caused from the showers on roads that slowed down the traffic as 2 DTC buses also broke down near Defence Colony flyover at Palam flyovers. Traffic snarls were faced by the residents across Delhi. Because of waterlogging from Kishan Ganj on carriageway, traffic was slowed down and held up towards the Azad market and also from Anand Parbat towards the New Rohtak Road.

Maximum temperature across the city varied from 37 degrees to 40 degrees Celsius. Prediction of more rain has been done by the weatherman for Tuesday and the sky will remain cloudy. As per the India Meteorological Department, the city will receive rainfall for 1 week more. The sky will remain cloudy with thunderstorms.
