American Centre




The American Center is the cultural center of US Embassy. It is located on Kasturba Gandhi Marg near Connaught Place in Delhi. It provides a platform for book launches, art exhibitions, cultural programmes, seminars, lectures and discussions. It features American Library, which is a specialized facility for research and reference. It offers an access to a broad range of information, authoritative and generally on the United States of America, its policies and people.

The center is designed to support the mission of US Embassy to encourage mutual understanding between India and America. It is the hub of Indo-American events. They increase an understanding between the two cultures. The Center serves as the platform where two cultures can mix and people can experience each other’s art, tradition, similarities and differences.

The American Center celebrates America’s Independence Day, Fourth of July, every year with a lot of fun and frolic. There is music, dance, food and enjoyment during this time.

The American Center is a window to America. The Center hosts events like seminars, book readings, cultural shows and workshops. These events are often held in the Auditorium of this Center.

The Library offers free access to general public. However, becoming a member has its own privileges. The Library is open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. on all days, except Sundays. The Library offers individual membership to Indian citizens above 16 years of age and family memberships also.

The Center is just a block away from Barakhamba Road metro station. It is well connected to Janpath and Parliament Street of Delhi and is in the heart of the city. It is easily accessible by metro and by bus due to its central location.
