E-Rickshaws to Ply on Delhi Roads Again

After lot of discussion and issues, Delhi government has again started the registration of battery rickshaws in Delhi after framing a simple procedure for this purpose. E-rickshaws provide affordable connectivity to the common people.

E-rickshaws in Delhi were banned by Delhi high court due to safety concerns for the demand of legal provisions in order to regulate their movement on the roads of the city. Delhi government has spent considerable time to provide them the driving licenses to ply these battery rickshaws in Delhi.

This step taken by the government will give 1 year mandatory holding period of license to the drivers to drive these E-rickshaws in Delhi. So far, about 24441 learning licenses have been issued for e-rickshaws by the transport department. Even the Delhi Finance Corporation has agreed for providing loans for the purpose of retro-fitment to take place prior to the e-rickshaw registration. Thus these battery rickshaws will provide affordable journey to the common people in the city.
