April 17, 2015 | R. Tondon

The facility of smart cards in DTC buses will soon be introduced on metro railway lines for the passengers who travel in buses. DTC buses will soon go hi-tech and it will become easy for the passengers to travel by buses. Passengers will be able to pay the fare of DTC buses along with Delhi metro cards.

As per the officials of DTC, the electronic ticketing machines in DTC buses will soon be floated in coming days. At present the pass received is made out of paper having a DTC watermark, which is time consuming for the commuters. So it is decided to launch the smart cards in DTC buses on monthly basis at metro lines, which will help the passengers travelling by bus.

The passengers are required to swipe the card while boarding the bus through ETM. Initially DTC will purchase 200 electronic ticketing machines in DTC buses. Currently the way public receive the passes, is issued on the names of the passengers, but the corporation is unaware of the route on which the passengers are commuting a lot. Once these smart cards pass are introduced, the corporation will be able to look for the passengers’ travelling at various routes that will help in improving the bus services.
