Delhi Govt Plans to Develop Tourism Eco-Park in City

Delhi government has planned for development of Chhawla-Kanganhari region to convert it into a weekend gateway where Delhi residents can visit. Other plans include developing related tourism amenities like adventure activities, camping and eco-sports facilities.

Minister for Tourism, Jitender Singh Tomar inspected existing facilities at the Chhawla-Kanganheri complex nearby Najafgarj Drain which Delhi Tourism Department had developed. He advised the officials to ascertain this area is developed for public use for weekend gateway purpose.

As a senior government official briefed about this complex of more than 2.77 acres and 11.44 acres square area it has extensive features to turn into unique recreational project that will have camping, board walk and rest facilities needed.

Tomar said that people of Delhi are keen to enjoy water sports, soft adventure and camping on their weekends in the city area. This complex will offer that fun moment to them.

He further said that government plans to use other avenues for maximum activities of inhabitants for which instant steps would be taken.

"It will be an ultimate site for memorable weekend break without any rush or metropolis noise to offer peace of mind. Planning is to develop it into an eco-park destination equipped with adventure activity options including paintball and obstacle course,” the official described.

Tourism Department explained about this complex in an island shape with elevated walkways facility and two-storied hut used for restaurant besides canal with bridge giving unique look. It is planned for overnight staying facility.

The official said that “a km-long cycling and jogging track would be developed alongside complex periphery.”
