Delhi Government to Launch Affordable City Taxis

Delhi Government is leaving no stone unturned in making the life of Delhiites convenient and comfortable way by bringing in different facilities at economical prices. It now has introduced affordable and cheap means to commute within Delhi through its City Taxi Scheme 2015.

The cab would charge INR 25 for the first 2 kilometers and then eventually INR 10/per kilometer. This mode of conveyance would be cheaper than the other taxi services in Delhi. The Delhi State Government in a meeting announced that the City Taxi Scheme 2015 is aimed to provide better transportation facility to the citizens. This scheme is amalgamation of two schemes – The Economy Taxi Scheme 2010 and Radio Taxi Scheme 2006.

The vehicles that would be covered under this scheme are small cars such as Rewa and Nano with 600 cc capacity. Registrations for group and individuals categories would start soon with fee of INR 25000 and INR 5000 respectively. Initially the government had planned to ply 750 cc capacity vehicles on city roads however finalized to 600 cc only.

As compared to other taxi services in Delhi, the taxis under this scheme would be of pure white color which advertisements displayed on both of its side. LCDs would be displayed on car top signifying green for availability and red for occupied message. Hooter and panic button would also be installed for all vehicles under this scheme.

Generation of bill would happen as per the rates pre-set by the Delhi government. The government has plans to launch rented motorcycle scheme too.
