The Delhi Development Authority in association with Indian Railways initiated this project of underpass with a cost outlay of Rs 260 crore that runs upto 1.09 kilometres in length. The design of underpass consists of numerous slip roads which are already constructed while the proposed footpath and cycle track are in construction stage.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Naidu mentioned that the Government is working towards reducing traffic problems faced in the National Capital, in a phased manner by constructing flyovers, roads, metros and bridges. Also focus is laid on projects that have been incomplete since long.

He also mentioned that there are no plans to displace slum dwellers in any area and the focus will be laid on providing facilities to people from all States and social strata, residing in Delhi. In this direction, the Government has also passed a Bill in Lower House of the Parliament restricting upto June 2014, the demolition and sealing of unauthorised constructions.
