Arunachal Pradesh will now have a train connecting country’s easternmost states to the national capital. Modi has flag off the first train and it was a special day for the state as it was also the 29th statehood day. Moreover, the train’s tracks would be extended to Tawang, which will give a strategic advantage to India of countering the advances by some neighboring countries.

DC Borah, the NFR senior PRO said that it would surely open a new page in the chapter of surface communication. He further added that it is a significant development for Arunachal Pradesh to share railways with international boundaries connecting it to New Delhi.

Recently constructed Naharlagun railway station is located from Itanagar at a distance of 10 km. PRO said that it was not an easy task to build railway tracks at Naharlagun. 11 major and 46 minor bridges were built across the rivers.

Although a place was found on the railway map of Arunachal Pradesh about 20 years back at the time when a line of metre gauge reached Bhalukpong but it was connected last year only when the train service got started in Itanagar. The cost of the project connecting Itanagar with Harmuti has been sanctioned at 407.98 crores. Now the train has connectivity from Arunachal Pradesh to Delhi.
