Locations and Pandals to Enjoy Bengali Styled Navarathri in New Delhi

To retain the theist flavour of Durga Puja in Delhi (otherwise the most nostalgic and emotional association of Bengalis), the Baroyari Pujo was initiated in 1910 which is maintaining the traditional rituals even till date. The Probasi folks sometimes get lost and the hope to be part of the Durga puja in Delhi gets dimmer and hence this article gives an overview of the Pandal hopping of puja mandaps that make their festival fun –filled one similar to the fun at West Bengal.

Kashmiri Gate

Popularly referred to as Kashmiri Gate Durga Puja, this is the oldest Puja Mandal organised by the Delhi Durga Puja Samiti in 1910. It also grabs the attention of following the traditional aura and festival environment, the idol is made of one frame idol (Daaker Saaj). The immersion procession is a feats to the eyes as the idol crimped with gold and silver is taken to Yamuna River in a bullock cart. This Pandal can be reached by taking the Civil Lines Metro and is located at Bengali Sr Sec School, Alipur Road.

Minto Road- Puja Samity

This pandal is known for aristocratic style of Puja and came into being in 1940. The sophisticated design of pandal, the traditional style of idol and adherence to traditions makes this pandal a must visit during Navarathri festival.

It is located on the connecting point of Ahalya Bai Road and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg which can be connected from Rajiv Chowk.

Chittaranjan Park

This is the most colourful of all pandals which maintains the rituals to the core. The priest performs sacrifice to the Durga idol, Pushpanjali, Arati, Yagna and other ritual. The Dhunuchi naach is famous here. It is located near Main market of Chittaranjan Park and is accessible by Nehru Palace Metro station.

Co-operative Ground Durga Puja Samithy

It is known for introducing theme based Durga Puja in Delhi and is known for the colourful decorations of the pandal. The pandal has been the winner of Durga Devi Namastute award organised by Times of India for consecutive years.

Mela Ground

Perfect place for culture fond devotees, one can identify themselves easily in the cultural events organised in advance at this place. The Bhoga Prasad is one savoury which should not be missed out.
