Bus Strike in Delhi After Driver is Beaten to Death, Attacker and his Mother Arrested

In a shocking incident at Mundka of West Delhi, Vijay, a biker resorted to physical abuse of Ashok Kumar, a bus Driver. Ashok Kumar aged about 42 years and father of two children, grazed the motor bike of Vijay, 22 year old, who was driving with his mother. Enraged by the incident, Vijay got into the bus and bludgeoned the Driver with his helmet while 40 odd passengers in the bus looked at the scene helplessly. The assault was fatal and Vijay arrest late night. While the police is looking into the various aspect of assault like hitting the driver with fire extinguisher or not, the drivers of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) called for state-wide strike on Monday. In spite of the State Government promising a job for Ashok’s son currently studying college and compensation of Rs 5 Lakhs, the protesting drivers are demanding compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family.

Commuters are stranded for alternate arrangements

The strike of bus drivers is causing utmost inconvenience to thousands of commuters, including school-going children who rely on DTC. The commuters are forced to look for cabs, auto rickshaws and other alternative arrangements. The Chief Minister has sought report on the incident and gradually the buses are also leaving the depot.
