About DUSIB

DUSIB or Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board was formed under the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board Act of 2010. The Legislative Assembly of Delhi Territory passed this Act on 1st April, 2010. The Hon'ble Lt. Governor of Delhi passed an order to the effect on 1st July, 2010 and this Act came into force. The Government of Delhi Territory controls the Board, as per the DUSIB Act, 2010.

As per DUSIB Act of 2010, the Board has the power to identify slums in the Territory. These are areas where old buildings are in a dilapidated condition and even vital civic services are unavailable. The Board also has to provide essential civic services to certain areas termed as Jhuggie Jhopdi Squatter Settlements. If required, the DUSIB will also have to take care of their relocation and resettlement.
