Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has set up the Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure with the objective to reduce congestion, enhance mobility, to improve safety on roads by implementing standard transport planning practices, enforcement measures, capacity building, better organizational co-ordination and traffic engineering practices, utilities coordination, work zone management, avoiding transport planning pitfalls and develop traffic culture. The powers have been given under the act as mentioned in the Gazette of Indian Extraordinary vide S.O. 1903 (E) dated 31.07.08. These regulations were modified through the notice S.O. No. 2065 (E) dated 07.08.2009.

According to this notification, clearance from the center is required for any type of transportation or engineering project that is to take place in the capital of the country, Delhi. This is done to make sure that all the projects uses the latest technology in carrying out the project and they receive all the required help possible.
