The Housing projects by DDA started in the year 1967 with the construction of flats for the people of different sections and providing the essential amenities like water, sewage disposal system and electricity. The new projects undertaken by DDA prompt for the proper recognition of project sites. It also makes public declaration about the new ventures through media and newspaper. It provides a foolproof, transparent draw system for scrutinising the applicants and finally allotting the houses.

DDA has introduced some of the famous housing Schemes which includes New Pattern Registration Scheme, Janta Housing Registration Scheme and Ambedkar Awas Yojana. Majority of these houses are allotted to Economically Weaker Section and the MIG & LIG flats are allotted to ST/ SC registrants. However, the Residential land is allotted to individual applicants and the farmers whose land has been acquired for development of housing societies.

  • The housing activities of DDA started in the year 1967 and it has played a pivotal role in providing houses to a million people of Delhi. By achieving this DDA has been capable of providing houses to half the population of the national capital.
  • DDA has been continuously involved in construction of houses to meet the requirements of people of different walks of life and purchasing capacity.
  • DDA has been introducing various housing schemes involving diverse flat categories and intimating through advertisements and newspapers.
  • DDA has allotted a total of 3, 67,724 flats till Jan 2007 including the one surrendered and re allotted. People belonging to the lower income groups and weaker sections were allotted with more than half of the total flats.
  • DDA allotted Flats are self sufficient and are provided with basic amenities like water, electricity, sewage disposal system apart from other infrastructures.
  • The DDA has been successful in registering people for forty two different housing schemes and making allotments for the same.
