Biodiversity Park

Owned by Delhi Development Authority and developed in technical collaboration with the Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystem (CEDME), University of Delhi.

Biodiversity parks are the first of its kind in the country and quite possibly in the world. These unique landscapes are ingenious development by DDA. It acts as a natural reserve for numerous species which are on the brink of extinction, these species live in diverse communities and the urban society gets educational, cultural and ecological benefit.

Conservation

The price for all round rapid development by mankind has been paid in the form of relentless destruction of the ecosystem that flourished on the northern limits or Aravallis, the shiwalik foothills, and on the banks of river Yamuna. For us, we may never see some of the extraordinary diverse flora and fauna, while there are many others which we may soon loose forever. The primary objective for developing these biodiversity parks is to provide favorable and comfortable breeding ground for the diverse nature.

All this has been realized in a short span of four years, the diligent team of volunteers and professionals have been able to bring numerous animals and plants back and recreate ecosystems and representative communities.
