ID Proof Mandatory for Buying R-Day Tickets this Year

The Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2015 will have a special chief guest, none other than the President of US, Barack Obama. In this backdrop, the Indian Ministry of Defence which is the process owner for security during the event, has heightened the security for sale of tickets.

The Republic day tickets 2015 is restricted to only three categories viz., Rs 10/- Rs 50 and Rs 300/- unlike the categories of tickets worth Rs 250/- and Rs 200/- of previous years. The tickets are sold to the public who wish to attend the republic day celebrations at Red Fort in Delhi and as added security, the purchaser is required to submit ID proof for buying Republic day ticket. This has caused a problem to the people purchasing tickets for relatives or friends residing outside Delhi. They had to go empty handed and return with copy of ID proof to purchase the Republic day tickets.

The documents like Aadhar card, ration card. Pan card or passport copy will serve the purpose of ID Proof for Buying Republic Day Ticket. The sale of Republic day tickets 2015 for spectators sitting near the VIP lounge are issued only after verifying the scanned images of the ID proof.  The Delhi Police in consultation with Ministry of Defence has planned the security arrangements for the D-Day.

Out of 36 enclosures, only six enclosures are available for spectators with tickets. The spectators with higher amount tickets can sit nearer to VIP enclosure while the ones with lower amount tickets will get farther seats. The Republic Day event will show case the cultural strength and defence might of India along with a parade of three wings of Defence.

As part of security, the adjacent buildings like Raj Bhavan, NirmanBhavan, VigyanBhavanetc will be closed from January 25th except the security personnel.
