Delhi Govt Suspends 20 Truant DTC Bus Drivers

On Sunday, 3rd of May 2015, the Delhi Transport Corporation experienced a big jolt post 20 bus drivers being suspended, reason was being their absence during duty hours. Gopal Rai, the minster of Delhi Transport issued their suspension orders while he was on a surprise visit at Rajghat bus terminal.

Gopal Rai, during the inspection exercise discovered that details of nearly 57 DTC Buses in Delhi was not found online. He also observed that just 100 of DTC buses were running around the city while 57 were stationed at the inside of the bus terminal. On more investigation of the duty registers and records, it was found that twenty drivers that were booked for duty, failed to show up. There was no reason mentioned or known by authorities for the absence of these drivers. Gopal Rai said that strict action would be taken against the drivers who take any unauthorized leave. HE promised that the DTC Buses in Delhi are introduced by the government to provide dedicated and hassle free public transport facilities to the commuters.

Infact DTC is also in search of procuring 500 midi buses to cater to the transportation needs of the public and overcome the shortage of DTC buses in Delhi.
