These markets are still running because of people’s desire towards traditional practices.

Sunday or Ravi Bazaar

This is the leading largest and oldest of all bazaars and is referred as Chor Bazaar. One can witness more than 10,000 Pattris or wooden planks to be laid out all the way between Jama Masjid and Darya Ganj. Earlier, the Chor Bazaar used to occupy the road in front of Red Fort, but because of traffic issues, it has been shifted from there. Any item of interest, right from books to airplane is available at the Chor Bazaar. There are people who wish to roam around this bazaar just to pass their time. There is also Daryaganj Sunday book market which is well known for diverse category of precious books.

Monday or Som Bazaar

Vikaspuri and Karol Bagh get occupied by pavement stalls that sweep the entire place, molding it to the form of fair or mela. All kinds of people roam around to shop for plastic households, kitchen items and readymade clothes for elder and kids. The most notable items are China crokeries, plastic chairs and ironing boards.

Tuesday or Mangal Bazaar

Sector 2 of Noida is accompanied by Mangal bazaar on Tuesday with items like rolling pins & spoons, ladles, Kadhais & spices, toys and clothes.

Wednesday or Budh Bazaar

Shyam Path, Shalimar Gardens and Vasant Vihar is known for their Budh bazaar with items like fresh fruits and vegetables, papads, mungodis, pickles, pulses, cushion covers and bed sheets.

Thursday or Guru Bazaar

Rajendra Nagar and Mayur Vihar come alive with shopping freaks who involve themselves in all kinds of shopping fantasies. The items available in this market satisfy a person on the basis of money invested in them.

Friday or Shukra Bazaar

Sanjay Nagar, Vikram Enclave and besides St Thomas Church, opposite to Safdarjung, Mohammadpur have selected Friday as their day where crazy shoppers occupy streets like flies on brown sugar.

Saturday or Shani Bazaar

Vijay Nagar and Lajpat Nagar take the credit of Shani bazaar with all range of electronic goods, branded cosmetics, factory overruns and export surplus at unbelievable prices.

These markets are kept alive because of their quality products at unmatched prices and big relief from plastic environment and assembly line in the huge city malls.
